My September Social Challenge 2025 Journey

I put together this September Social Challenge as a way of forcing myself to get out of my daily social life comfort zone. As the host of a social club/community, I relied too heavily on my own group to make friends and stay social. Like many adults, I think it's easy to settle on friendship & company with whatever comes easiest. For me, that's hosting events locally. For others it might be co-workers, neighbors, or family friends. Having people around doesn't mean that your social battery is actually being filled! I'm hoping this challenge helps encourage deeper connections and friendships.

I'll be sharing a brief reel and summary each day of September as I mark off one item from the challenge:

September 1, 2025 - Day 1

Crossing off: Catch up with a friend/relative

My Labor Day weekend was spent surrounded by family, which was a nice changeup from my usual social life! I spent Saturday watching the Ohio State V University of Texas football game with my dad, husband, and dad's side. I got to catch up with my cousins and meet my cousin's girlfriend.

I had a brief spell of heat exhaustion from yard working and walking around the San Marcos Outlet mall over the weekend so yesterday was spent in full recovery mode! Luckily, I was feeling much better today. I went to visit my mom and her fiancé (which they announced officially today!) and I got to meet his family. As an only child, it's always exciting to expand our super small immediate family. I can definitely see myself enjoying the holidays and various occasions with her fiancé and their family.

For me, I feel better about my overall mental well-being when I'm on good terms with family. This weekend was much needed! I want this challenge to revolve around friendships but that can certainly include family. Hope everyone had a fun/relaxing Labor Day!
