FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

As a premium member can I bring a guest to events?

​

Some events are open to all, meaning you can bring a guest! However, our premium member only events or ticketed events do not allow guests unless they also have a membership or ticket. Please check each event before bringing a guest. Memberships for guests can be purchased here

What is the dress code for events?

Each event takes place at a different venue and has a different theme/dress code. Most of our events are casual. If there is a dress code in place, we will be sure to relay that information to members.

What if I move out of town or no longer need a membership?

Memberships are good for one year after purchase. We do not provide refunds on memberships under any circumstance. However, you are welcome to continue using our member portal, attending our virtual events, or showing up as a member to any event for the year of your membership regardless if you live in the Houston area or not!

How do i find where the events are?

All premium members are given access to our member portal. If you scroll down on our member portal, you will see "Events" and all of the upcoming events are listed under as well as the address/location for each one. Some events may say "TBA" for the location - in that case, check back a few days prior to the event for the location information. Click here to view the member portal.

What if i need to report a member/incident?

While we strive to maintain a safe atmosphere, creeps happen! Email us AS SOON AS POSSIBLE at hardtomakefriends@gmail.com - please include the following information in your email: The event this took place, the date, the location, the member you are reporting, and a description of the incident. Our moderator will review your message and act accordingly. Please note, we recommend never sharing contact information with members you do not know or meeting outside of our events. If this was a serious incident, please contact local police and file a report. If this was through the Meetup app, please report the situation to Meetup.

How can i get the most out of this club?

Attending regular events is the best way to get the most out of our social club! The more you attend, the more members you will meet! Our monthly premium member social hour events are a great way to become a "regular" and see the same faces. Using & being active in the group chats also help grow your social life. Use the chats to invite members out to brunch, plan an evening watching football at a brewery, or find out what cafe everyone loves to work from. If you never come out to events or participate, you're not going to be making friends or connections.

Rules & Fine Print:

These Rules and Regulations (“Rules”), are designed to protect the rights and privileges of Members (collectively, “Members”) and the enjoyment of our social club and events by our Members and their guests. The obligation of enforcing these Rules lies primarily with the management and host whose principal responsibility are to assure Members of all the courtesies, comforts and services to which they are entitled. It is also the duty of the Members to know the Rules and to cooperate in the enforcement of these Rules. These Rules may be modified or amended at any time. All memberships, members, and guests are subject to removal or cancellation at any time, for any reason.

Members are to conduct themselves in a manner which will not interfere with the enjoyment of events, apps, and chats by other Members or guests. Anyone acting in a disorderly, disruptive, or offensive manner will be asked to leave and permanently banned. Members are responsible for the conduct of any guests and will be held accountable for their actions. Members who have violated rules forfeit their Membership. We do not offer refunds under any circumstance. 

 

Member rules include (but are not limited to):

-Agreeing that the use of vulgar or offensive language is prohibited in-person or online

-All members and their guests attending events in-person or online must be 21+

-This is an inclusive group that is accepting of all religions, ethnicities, sexual preferences/orientation, political views, and more. Anyone who makes offensive remarks, judges, or harasses any member/guest is subject to removal

-Our social club is based on platonic friendship. No member should be harassing, contacting, or attempting a relationship with any member without their approval & consent. Any member crossing these lines is subject to removal. 

-All members are responsible for their alcohol consumption and drinking in moderation. Any member who acts out, makes a scene, or does anything inappropriate while under the influence is subject to removal. It is not the host or our social club's responsibility to ensure you are participating in a safe amount of alcohol consumption. Any member who is clearly intoxicated may be subject to removal. Members should not attempt to leave an event in their motor vehicle in an intoxicated condition. At events where we provide alcohol, all attendees agree to drink responsibly and our social club is not liable for any accidents, injuries, deaths, or behavior that may occur. 

- All members are responsible for their own actions and safety.

-Our group hosts and any vendors/venues/employees are to be treated in a courteous and considerate manner. 

-All members are responsible for ensuring their contact information including phone number, email, & address are up to date in order to receive announcements and event information. Email hardtomakefriends@gmail.com with any questions. Make sure to check your spam folder for our emails. 

-Guests are only allowed at certain events. Some events require guests to have tickets. "Premium Members Only" events require all attendees, including guests, to have a membership.

-Memberships are good for one year. All membership pricing is subject to change. It is each member's responsibility to update their membership. Anyone who does not renew their membership is subject to removal.  

 

Other conditions:

We shall have the sole and absolute right and power to prohibit (i) any games, sports, or other activities, which it may, in its sole determination, consider harmful to the interests of the general Membership (ii) illegal activities are prohibited (iii) solicitation of Members, petitions and commercial advertisements posted or circulated at events or our app/chats/websites are prohibited without prior approval, and (iv) use of our name, logo or stationery for any purpose is prohibited without prior approval of the Owner

All memberships are subject to a 48 hour waiting period. All members agree to enter their correct legal name and address. We do a basic background search and review of all memberships. All memberships are subject to be denied. Any denied members will be given a refund.

Memberships are non-refundable and may be cancelled, discontined, or removed at any time. Events are subject to cancellation at any time/without notice. Membership pricing is subject to change once your yearly membership expires. 

We cannot guarantee or authenticate the identity, history, or motives of any member. All members should use caution and discretion before sharing contact information, rideshares, or meeting with any members. We do not recommend meeting another member alone or outside the group. Our group and hosts are not responsible for anything that happens at or away from our events including offensive lanuage, actions, behavior, etc by any member to any member. 

 

Liability:

By purchasing a membership, You agree that neither our social club, our events, our venues, or our hosts shall be liable for any claims, theft, losses, damages, medical emergencies, sickness, death, injuries or liability which may be sustained by any person while traveling to or attending any of our events (including but not limited to) any member, guest, employee, or any other person or entity. You agree that you will hold harmless and indemnify our social club and hosts from any and all claims, including losses, damages, death, injuries, or liability (including without limitation, reasonable attorney’s fees and costs) whether to property, person, or otherwise, that arise while participating in the event.

Use of Likeness:

​

By attending our events you acknowledge and agree to grant us the right to photograph, video or capture your likeness and/or the likeness of your guests for use on social media and print advertisement without any further approval from you or any payment to you. This grant includes, but is not limited to, the right to edit such media, the right to use the media alone or together with other information, and the right to allow others to use or disseminate the media.
